Guest guest
I am sorry to hear about the first hand problems you all face. I am not sure how well it is known, but there is a medication treating Alzheimer that are fatty acids. Alzheimer is a form of diabetes, in that the brain can no longer run efficiently on glucose. The common diet today of low fat/high carbs contributes to the problem. On the other hand, a diet very low in carbs, and high saturated fats like coconut oil, and butter can help. The brain can run on ketones, instead of glucose. It is not to say, this is the only cause, but it may be enough of a cause to help, and or prevent. http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oG7j_ah3BP6BEAgQhXNyoA?p=alzheimer%27s%20k\ etogenic%20diet & fr2=sb-top & fr=yfp-t-701-s http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oG7j_ah3BP6BEAgQhXNyoA?p=alzheimer%27s%20d\ iabetes%203 & fr2=sb-top & fr=yfp-t-701-s The drug(food) Axona to treat Alzheimer http://about-axona.com/ There are a lot of very low carb/high saturated diets out there, and most will posts studies showing the benefits of saturated fats, and how they are not to be feared. The diet helps many with blood sugar problems and chronic pain. Such a diet helped me. Hope this helps someone. I am so appreciate of you success with oils and ketogenic diets but Alzheimer is Not going to get better with oils and Alzheimer is not known to be a form of diabetes. Here from the Alz.research.org and many other Alzheimer research specialists never have listed this and here is the following exert: The Search for Causes While scientists know Alzheimer's disease involves progressive brain cell failure, the reason cells fail isn't clear. Like other chronic conditions, experts believe that Alzheimer's develops as a complex result of multiple factors rather than any one overriding cause. Both age and genetics have been identified as risk factors, but many questions still remain. The discovery of additional risk factors will deepen our understanding of why Alzheimer's develops in some people and not others. If you or anyone wants to research it from dedicated scientists here is the website : http://www.alz.org/research/science/alzheimers_disease_causes.asp This can be added along with laitrile for cancer. I encourage anyone concerned with a person they know go with factual research. A Doctor will NOT put a body in ketosis as it presents problems and is not factual accepted as a treatment. I am glad it worked for you but most people like to adhere to factual treatment. Just a point. Bennie
Guest guest
Bennie and group, The problem is related to failure of cholesterol homeostasis according to ei R Koudinov, neuroscientists " Temirbolat T Berezov, Natalia V Koudinova " Russian Acad Med Sciences, Moscow, Russia; Weizmann Inst., Dept. Biol. Regulation, Rehovot, Israel See their reply to a study http://people.csail.mit.edu/seneff/alzheimers_statins.html Here is an essay with many scientific references. I greatly appreciate this article and her research. It brings together most of the studies I have read. As you say, age and genetics are implicated, but the reasons are becoming more clear, as more and more research is being done. We and our families are all getting older, and we need to know the most updated, unbiased information and studies. http://people.csail.mit.edu/seneff/alzheimers_statins.html s Hopkins hospital did some research into a modified Atkins ketogenic diet with some results for children, and mentions may be an option for adolescents and adults. It is hoped this will be easier for the parents and the children to follow than the more strict ketogenic diet that is more well known and followed. http://www.hopkinschildrens.org/Modified-Atkins-Diet-Treats-Childhood-Seizures.a\ spx Here is a study done on using a MCT fatty acid oil, AC-1202 to induce ketosis to treat Alzheimer. http://www.pslgroup.com/dg/24d296.htm Here is more about that drug(actually a food) Axona on the market, to treat Alzheimer. http://www.drugs.com/clinical_trials/genetic-profile-identified-alzheimer-s-pati\ ents-showing-heightened-response-accera-s-breakthrough-12499.html Hope this will give all of you " food for thought " C. > Bennie wrote: > I am so appreciate of you success with oils and ketogenic diets but Alzheimer is Not going to get better with oils and Alzheimer is not known to be a form of diabetes.
