Guest guest
It was way too hot to be out in the sun yesterday, but we have a nice few days to spend outside now. I don't know about everyone else, but I was quite miserable yesterday because my back is acting up from top to bottom with spasms and nerve pain with sciatica. I'm not sure today will be a whole lot better, but I'm going to try to enjoy it because the weather is perfect. If only we would have rain. Guest guest
I have not been online a whole lot lately because most of what I say is taken the wrong way or someone gets mad. So I am ready to give up and unsubscribe from all the groups I am on because that way I cannot be anyone else's punching bag or sounding board for nastiness. Guest guest
I don't post much mainly because I get too many email to go through. I spent the past two days inside doing things inside because standing hurts my spine. I'm 21 and have fibromyalgia. I also have a slipped disc in my lower back, a slight bulging disc in my neck and a unknown neck/shoulder injury that I'm about to start PT for. While both discs are slight injuries - the chemical irritation surrounding them + the chronic inflammation I have causes me to be extremely uncomfortable most of the time. It's incredibly sad being a 21 year old who can't work. In addition to this - when I do work I get sick. Even when I don't work I'll catch bronchitis or similar respiratory infections 4-5X/year. Recently, I had pertussis for almost 4 months. When I do work - its worse. And I push myself to work and do my work well - and it's worse. My friends don't understand. They pull away because of it. It's unmanaged and not under control. I can't really afford to be going to all these doctors all the time and when I did - it was minimal to no help. My only saving grace is my fiancé. He understands and tries to help and doesn't mind that I can't work. I apologize for complaining. I just - right now - need to have someone hear me. I'm so tired of my friends, band mates and current business partner (recently started an online shop on ebay intending to open a store eventually) pull away from me because I can't be fun all the time. Because I'm always in pain. While I don't complain constantly or every time in in pain - its a downer on their day when I don't feel good. You'd think decent friends would look past that, have some compassion, understand and try to be your friend anyway.

Guest guest
Anne, have you been harmed here? I sure hope not. There's no place for rudeness among people who have the same issues of pain. We all hurt and we all suffer from everyone who doesn't know chronic pain personally. It's been a rough couple of days and I'm tired of fighting to " perform " and do my fair share. I can only imagine how difficult it is for you and I believe you. Love, Jennette >Anne wrote: > >I have not been online a whole lot lately because most of what I say is taken the wrong way or someone gets mad. Guest guest
Beth, I began having neck and back pain in my teens and by 24 I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease, Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. I am 57 today, raised 4 children, have been married 3 times, this time is the last. Life is what it is and I make the most of it but I'm slow and I am hurting in so many places. I sure hope they find a way to stop the inflammation and pain, a cure for you and all of us with these issues. Take care, oh, true friends will stick with you through thick and thin, we learn who they are. Guest guest
No one has said anything to me here. But I also cannot take any pain meds because I have 76 drug allergies. all found by trial and error. Now I am down to IV Fentanyl which even when I went into the ER by 911 last week complaining of severe chest pain and a headache. They gave me nitro which quadrupled my headache as expected. I begged for 3 HOURS for anything for pain, tylenol, ibuprofen with benadryl, fentanyl, anything. Finally after 3 hours they said I could choose from tylenol and ibuprofen. I should have taken both but I took the ibuprofen (its listed on my allergy list, which is why I take it with benadryl) because does NOTHING! I think I am dying of a broken heart because I miss my Mom so much.
Guest guest
Hi again! I hope no one has hurt feelings for writing about any pain medicines they need to take. Bennie, you have been such a blessing to me with all your insights on medicines and procedures over the years. So have many more of you and I am grateful. The rest of the world cannot judge us as they have not walked a mile in our shoes. I did have my occipital nerve cut in an attempt to get rid of some of my pain. However, if it does not do that I will continue to take all my pills because I want to live and participate in life as much as I can. Without them, I would be screaming and unable to move. I am thankful for narcotic medication and all the relief it provides us. I am hopeful for new medications that may someday replace narcotics without all the side effects and dangers of misuse and abuse. But until that day comes, I will never begrudge anyone's use of them to relieve pain. I love all of you and please continue to share when you can. Becky P.S. Please can anyone tell me the best way to get dried blood out of my hair and scalp? The surgeon left my head a messy mixture of hair and blood. He just wrapped bandages around my head and sent me home with instructions to use baby shampoo around the six inches of stitches going up the back. I had no idea they were going to shave my head. I know that was stupid of me but was furious when I removed the bandages and saw the mess. My favorite niece is getting married Friday and I want to look decent. I am so embarrassed to go to a beauty shop till I get a little cleaned up. But it hurts still to touch and rub on my head. Thanks for any help. Guest guest
Hi Becky, How horrible! I have had several rounds of stitches or staples in my scalp over the years. I know how sensitive it is just after the stitches are put in. I have found that putting a warm wet towel or wash cloth on the area with a dry towel around that. Then let it sit for 10-20 minutes. I then try to gently rub the are with the wet cloth. Rinse everything out and repeat. The blood will moisten and you should be able to remove it fairly painlessly. The other good thing about this technique is it allows the area to rest between gentle scrubbings. The blood will come out easier as it the area gets wetter. You can also decide that you are done for the day, allow it to air dry and come back to it tomorrow. In my younger, more agile days, I would lay on my back in the tub and soak my head. That works really well. But if I could get into that position, I'd never get out of the tub these days! Those hair stylists can do fantastic things. Consider looking at hats, hair bows or large barrettes to help cover the area depending on where exactly it is. Good luck, > Becky wrote: > P.S. Guest guest
It is probably best that you have someone help you if you can lean over the kitchen sink or tub, then they can concentrate on the hair and be gentle with the incision. Besides, it is good to have someone take a look to make sure it's healing and not getting infected. Guest guest
I just looked at our long term forecast. Highs in the upper 80's and up to 98 for the next 3 weeks, with a couple of decent days. No significant rain. Indiana is in a drought and I expect there will be a lot of crop failures due to lack of moisture. Things were looking good till the end of May. Our trend has been mild winter, less precipitation year round and now major summer heat. I wish now I hadn't sold those two air conditioners. The two we have aren't going to do much. There's a lot of people in our state without the means to keep cool. I'm praying the weather man is proved wrong. Jennette > wrote: > I'd gladly send our rain storms to you. Guest guest
(((((((((((Beth)))))))))))) I understand what you mean! Even when you are 55 years old people still look at you like you have grown 3 horns in your head when you try to explain. I have just about gave up on explaining. I am glad you have a supportive person in your life. This is the place to complain! We are all in the same boat. The more people rowing the better the journey. Big gentle hugs to all, Tami ---Beth wrote: > > It's incredibly sad being a 21 year old who can't work. > > My only saving grace is my fiancé. Guest guest
To the 21 year old lady in this group. My son was also 21 when stricken with a spinal disease and chronic pain. My heart goes out to you. Pain has no age minimum or maximum. Sent from my Motorola Smartphone on the Now Network from Sprint!

The moles and voles are running amok in my Hoosier yard. Their tunnels are uprooting all my plants. A good rain and they would likely disperse. Even where we laid fresh sod this spring, they've made a horrible mess. Most of the sod died from their tunnels. They even killed an ornamental tree this week. They seem to come from all over when the soil had been watered. I expect with this drought the poor little things are getting desperate. While I appreciate the good work both kinds do with aerating the soil, I wish they go do it somewhere else. My garden and yard have never looked so pathetic. And that's with 50+ years of gardening under my belt. My home province of Saskatchewan normally gets this kind of weather, but the soil is rich loam and can handle it. For the two years of drought we've had in Indiana, Saskatchewan has had so much rain that the crops were ruined by drowning. Lyndi
Guest guest
That's funny you mention voles and moles. Just today my husband's little dog caught hold of a vole. First one I've seen in a long while. We live with fields all around and pasture lands. Maybe that's what my cat is laying in wait for every evening out in the tall grass. My yard has plenty of plantain and dandelion everywhere and they are still green since their roots extend far down so the voles have come to partake of something other than brown grass LOL. The moles generally do their tunneling all around and the dogs tend to dig them out, leaving too many places to trip and fall. So, before winter I'll fill in the holes with some topsoil we have saved under a tarp. Stay cool today. I am in east central IN near a little town called Lynn. Guest guest
I used to have friends that go to audio on tape and also they would go to Starbucks for wireless and you can bet the crops need it so badly Bennie > Jennette wrote: > Indiana is in a drought and I expect there will be a lot of crop failures due to lack of moisture.
