Guest guest
Hi. Happy Monday to everyone. I am writing to ask a question about pain I have been having for awhile now that is in my mid-lower back on the left side. Anytime I do anything like sweeping, picking up, or just being busy to long it hurts. I have never had pain here like this and it has gone on now for over a month. I have scoliosis, my spine is a S shape plus I have had multiple injuries throughout my life. I was hoping it would go away, but obviously, it is not. Just wondering if anyone has had this before or maybe someone knows what is in this area that could be hurting. I know it is not my kidney's, it is a muscle pain. Thank you. I hope everyone is having a great day so far. Even being in pain, I am thankful that I was able to work in my flower beds a bit last night. Yeah, it hurts, but sometimes, it is worth it! take care  everyone!
Guest guest
I am in search of a " reason " for my muscle spasms in my mid back. They are horrendous. Now I have pain in my lower right rib area, feels muscle related, hurts to breath in or out or to bend to my right side. I am so tired of all this pain and my limit is about to be reached. My pain doc said maybe an mri of my thoracic spine would offer a clue. Who knows? Guest guest
I can't help you with the reason for the pain, but just wanted to let you know that I suffer from the same problem. For me it can be my whole upper back area. Sometimes it moves to include my ribs on the side. It feels like someone is compressing my ribs. It is hard to take a deep breathe. The muscle relaxers help. big hugs, Tami --- martinyamyam wrote: > > > I am writing to ask a question about pain I have been having for awhile now that is in my mid-lower back on the left side. Guest guest
To the person with the pain on the left side. Have you discussed this with your doc? Have you had tests or scans yet? It could be one thing for one person and something different for another person. Have you tried aspercreme or other OTC help. If its muscular your doc should dx and perhaps muscle relaxers could help. Nerve pain is something else but its better for a doc to dx you instead of guessing. If its bad enough for you to be asking pain patients about it my advice is to see your doc. --- martinyamyam wrote: > > > I am writing to ask a question about pain I have been having for awhile now that is in my mid-lower back on the left side. Guest guest
You should also make sure it is not cardiac-related. Last year my husband had middle back pain (quite severe at times) and it turned out to be a blocked cardiac artery and he needed a stent. No pain since. Guest guest
I gotta put in my personal situation concerning going to the doctor over every new pain. It's $25 co-pay and we just don't have it to spare. It's a good thing if I can make my regularly scheduled appointments. $35 for specialists. For some people, that's dirt cheap, but for me, who has to go to food pantries to cover the last week of every month, it just adds up too fast to make those unscheduled appointments. I think when the pain is " that " bad, I'd certainly go to the ER or try to get in to see my doctor. My pcp and my pain doctor are both booked up for 5-8 weeks and tell me if it's " that " bad go to the ER. So, that's why I don't go to the doctor for every new pain. Guest guest
Hi Thank you so much for all your responses. I have been monitoring and seeing what aggravates my back in that area and it is when I sweep or use my muscles to lift or twist. I have so many areas that cause pain, last night my mid neck area was so sore, even ice hurt to touch it. I am sorry for complaining, but this is the only place I can vent a little. No one believes that I am really in this much pain. Thank you all for listening. I also wanted to see if anyone has been on Methadone and how it did with your pain control? I am on 2 10 mg tablets 3 times a day and I have oxycodone, 15 mg, 1 tablet 3 times a day as needed for breakthrough pain. The combo does work for the most part, but the last 2 weeks it has not been as effective. I guess there are times like that where we all have pain that our doses or medications don't work as well. Thanks again for listening. I really appreciate it. and for anyone who remembers, I was pregnant with my son when I joined this group and I had a awful time with doctors and pain control. It was so awful. Well, I am proud to say that my son was born healthy and is almost 4, and is smart and a typical boy. I was on pain medication through-out my pregnancy, under a doctor's care of course, but finding one to treat my pain was such a nightmare. Anyways, just wanted to add that for anyone who remembers. Have a wonderful day everyone and thanks for listening! Guest guest
Steph first let me say that I am happy to hear your son is great. That is wonderful. I happen to be on methadone but for breakthrough pain and oxycontin for long term. I take each 3x a day but the oxy is extended release and take the methadone for breakthrough. I went to a pain specialist in Illinois to get my meds regulated and my pcp now handles it. So as long as I can keep the oxy on time I can use the other as needed. As for dosage you and your doc usually determines what dosage is right for you. Good luck. Oh and I get trigger point injections and during extreme flare ups prednisone tablets for about six days. > Steph wrote: > I also wanted to see if anyone has been on Methadone and how it did with your pain control? Guest guest
I have been on Methadone for 6 years. It works good. It does not produce a high. That is a good thing because I am not tempted to take more than I should. Sue or Sioux > Steph wrote: > I also wanted to see if anyone has been on Methadone and how it did with your pain control? Guest guest
Doctors have problems prescribing it. You have to be very careful in the beginning - about a week. After that, your comfort level should get much better. sue susan siouxsee > Steph wrote: > I also wanted to see if anyone has been on Methadone and how it did with your pain control?
