Guest guest
I know that you posted this months ago, but I just found it now (trying to play catch up). I wanted to take a moment to thank you for posting this, it looks pretty useful. Dr. Tennant's Intractable Pain Patient's Survival Guide is still one of my favorite publications, but the publications from the British site look very promising. Yes that and paintopics.org (the resource page has over two hundred contacts) are the ones besides what I listed. I am so sad that the American Pain Foundation disbanded , that happens without donations and our economy the way it is, it happens. There are people still lobbying for the laws and the laws are getting so strict, we have to be like a prisoner checking in. Fortunately, I am at the stage that no one can argue (well, the can) with what is wrong, it is there in black and white. I feel for those starting out trying to tell their doctor something is wrong. I made copies of all the publications that the American Pain Foundation had and listed them here so they should be in the archives. If anyone doesn't know, this group archives are listed at the bottom of our posts and you can search what was written about. The moderators are better at explaining how to access but it is nice to know that the information is not lost forever as the brochures the American Pain Foundation made before disbanding, are great. The National Foundation for the Treatment of Pain disbanded when my Doctor who founded it died and he and Dr. Tenant started it. There are so many Doctors dedicating their life's to assisting pain patients, I would like to give a moment of silence of gratefulness to them for taking the time to write the Free Guides being selfless and you can tell they care about the patient. I for one, appreciate it and as I said PainTopics.org lists those resources http://pain-topics.org/patient_resources// That link lists the problem by disease, disorder, or subject and has an large listing on alternative and holistic medicine. I also like the Cancer Center of America, immediate specialists that will chat with you if you ever have questions on cancer and advanced treatments. I will be out for several weeks, my darling Sister stole over seventy-thousand dollars from my invalid Dad and I have to go through legal avenues and I have a blocked ear and infection and I have to deal with my gambling Sister that has threatened to kill herself if we turn her in and she has been caring for my Dad. She did this four years ago stealing nine thousand dollars and was placed in a psych facility but got out. My Dad was paying her to keep her as caregiver as she stated she wanted to and on Father's Day my Dad called and stated she left a letter stating " She wanted her inheritance now and she forged over seventy-thousand dollar checks, and she would kill herself if he put her in jail " I found out from her daughter that she also one fifty-thousand dollars gambling last month and lost most of it all. She was siphoning thousands at a time and my Dad had put a note on her account before not to cash checks on her. I know many here have family situations they have to deal with and have to deal with pain is so unfair but self-centered people drive me nuts. I can only as for prayers, thoughts, zen, or whatever you can send my way that I make fair decisions to protect my Dad so he can get bonded care rather than the selfish needs of my sister that has to be watched as letters on file she cannot gamble at casinos. Please pray for me. Bennie
