Guest guest
All, Disagree here and medical community disagrees. If I were dumped off my narcotics without replacement for a intractable pain I have like Steve with Cancer, my blood pressure would elevate and my blood pressure stays up EVEN with blood pressure pills because the pain is causing the blood pressure. I don't have to be jolted into reality, my blood pressure goes up to 240/110 which is stroke level and they right now have me on two blood pressures meds but this is pain. My Doctor states it like this : If you go in and given a shot of morphone or versed and it makes your blood pressure go down, it is not systemic (caused by kidney etc). If you go in and they give you blood pressure meds and it goes down ( it is systemic). This is discussed in Dr. Tenent's " Survival Guide for Intractable Pain Patient " and increased blood pressure is part of the flight or fight response. Going off a narcotic for some patients CANNOT be done in a couple of weeks dependent on their condition. Going off blood pressure medication is not a good idea either but it is all dependent on the reason you are on a narcotic and this is not a very true way of thinking of should encourage ANYONE to go off any meds without tapering. Tapering with narcotics when needed is done ten per cent of the dosage and blood pressure and vitals are monitored. Just do a search: I do not know what the context of this is but you must master you own medications and read the the side effects of going off all at once and jolting to reality for me is : lying in the bed dying or being able to walk, and blood pressure causing me to have a stroke so I can say " I am off my meds " . I didn't think the group here hated me that much but guess there is some pride in saying you don't have to take narcotics so I can say that and slowly die. Which should I chose ?
