Dr gave me another shot and prescribed Gelnique, which is a salve you put on once a day to stop the frequent urination. I developed a rash and thought it was shingles. Went to my family doctor and he didn't know what it was from, but it wasn't shingles. Hi Ann One of the most common side effects of Gelnique is a skin reaction at the site application. That's why the directions say to apply it on a different spot each day. The skin welts, rashes, etc. are different on each person who reacts to the stuff. Applying it on a different spot each day helps some people avoid skin reactions, but for anyone with sensitive skin, a skin reaction is likely to happen anyway. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you had a typical Gelnique reaction. I'm very surprised that your doctor didn't know that skin reactions are one of the most common side effects associated with this medication.
