Guest guest
Thanks . I have not really been keeping my knee (just have one!) elevated. I should have thought of that. I work at home so it is easy enough to do. I think I have enough ice packs I just cannot force myself to stop working. I am so far behind. But I MUST. I should set an alarm. I can definitely elevate my leg. Good idea. I have a laptop but it is 8 years old and gets kinda sluggish. It is an iBook so expensive to upgrade. Maybe I should at least try it. I am just working with text and an occasional trip to Farmville. Thanks . I think I just needed to hear from a fellow pain sufferer. And I do appreciate the suggestion to elevate. Had not really thought of that. > wrote: > You are trying to keep your knees elevated, right?
Guest guest
Even though the ice makes it feel better, you don't want to leave it on non-stop. Ice should not be left on an area for more than 20 minutes and then off for an hour. You can repeat this all day/night but you must have the hour off, otherwise the body senses the area is too cold and sends more blood to the area to heat it up. Although I am now disabled, I have been a chiropractor for over 30 years. Vivien > wrote: > If cold helps, why not keep putting ice packs on them? Guest guest
Vivien, my doctor told me 10-15 minutes at a time also. But he said 15 on and 15 off is all right. I don't have the energy to go get the ice and put the other one back to do it that often anyway! I'm lucky to do it once an hour. > Vivien wrote: > Ice should not be left on an area for more than 20 minutes and then off for an hour. Guest guest
You rotate them as Vivien says Ice repeat. Ice constricts, Heat dilates. For me Ice does NOT help as it makes nerve endings constrict and throb. > Even though the ice makes it feel better, you don't want to leave it on non-stop.
