Guest guest
Thanks a bunch Cheryl, This is the list I was looking for. I have at least 36 of them just a little over half. Wow did not realize how bad a shape I am really in. I would have a pitty party if I knew how but think I will just keep pushing ahead. At least now I may have something that's fixable. Thanks again Butch Hi Butch - In answer to your post, I've copied and pasted the original post from here for you. Butch, Please make sure if you have testing have more than just a TSH as it does not test the parathyroids, pituitary and other things that go along with thyroid problems. Also, take it seriously. until it happened to me and I had mini strokes and a " thyroid storm " it is life threatening. I like about.com series internet search on Thyroid as it gives you so much in a readable format. I have cut and pasted the top page to Thyroid 101 so you can see their subject matters and the articles they have. Good Luck. Guest guest
I agree, proper testing is extremely important. My TSH was always normal, but I had been silently suffering from pituitary hypothyroidism (aka secondary hypothyroidism, aka normal TSH Hypothyroidism). My thyroid works fine, but my pituitary doesn't produce high enough levels of TSH when T4 and T3 run low. Normal/primary hypothyroidism results in your pituitary releasing higher levels of TSH to attempt to cause the thyroid to release more T4. Chronic pain drastically increases the chances of someone developing pituitary hypothyroidism. I always request: TSH Free T4 Total T4 Free T3 Total T3 Initially, I had anti-thyroid antibodies run too. A TSH cascade (aka reflex) is insufficient because T4 will only be run if TSH is high.
