Benadryl used to be used to relax deep muscle pain also so this might help. Why is this medication prescribed? Diphenhydramine is used to relieve red, irritated, itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny nose caused by hay fever, allergies, or the common cold. Diphenhydramine is also used to relieve cough caused by minor throat or airway irritation. Diphenhydramine is also used to prevent and treat motion sickness, and to treat insomnia (difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep). Diphenhydramine is also used to control abnormal movements in people who have early stage parkinsonian syndrome (a disorder of the nervous system that causes difficulties with movement, muscle control, and balance) or who are experiencing movement problems as a side effect of a medication. In the Survival Guide for Intractable Pain Patients by Dr Forest Tennant, he addresses a multi modal approach for situations that you talk about and medications and other assistance to reduce pain. Hope this helps a little. Bennie

It is just something I take if needed for sleep, nausea, or allergies. Many years ago, Doctors prescribed it for sleep and nausea for patients so it has been around for years but is not a pain pill. Just wanted you to know it is not pain pill, and my animals are very important in my life and I do animal rescue for my my purpose in life . Good Luck on appointment.
