Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I just had to mix up my appt so I can do this tomorrow go to my pain clinic appointment(still need to get my chronic book and questions together. I have some from the list.) then I go get my Xolair shots appointment , for which during the horrid pollen season it doesn't work as well, so I am rethinking those, works the rest of the time. If I am not able to get them, I cough and wheeze and sometimes when I do get the vial I still cough wheeze during the high pollen season. So I don't know what to do about that one? Then in the afternoon, I am hoping to be able to go thru my sons IEP meeting after all of my appts aredone due to his IEP is due the 18th and I have put it off due to appointments Just to let you know HUGS

For those who don't know a IEP is an Individual Educational Plan. I am a special education advocate, and if you ever need any assistance, you can write me privately. I was always disappointed in the schools that do not set up a pre IEP meeting and contact parents to set goals and identify items for the agenda. The parents would come the meeting and just get slammed with information from the members of the IEP committee and then be asked to sign off. That is my one focus and I have worked in this field and was certified in the State of Illinois as a Service Provider providing resources and case managing clients and families. It was a very rewarding and I enjoyed learning from seminars and my classes. When I moved to Texas most of the service provider jobs require you to be bilingual in Spanish and I am not. I got my Masters in Special Education and worked in the School System as case manager for students and was the Behavior Specialist and was responsible for thirty students and monitoring and providing support. I do this for limited students due to my disability from home preparing parents for IEP's and discussing the laws that protect these students (IDES) I learned quit a bit from this experience in my life and would gladly share what I know and still have contact with an active Advocate. I developed a Handbook for all my students with templates and checklist to prepare them and resource to there condition. I put it in a three ring binder that has a clear plastic cover that you can put phots of so when you take it to the meeting, the commitee members see the student in different situations rather than behavior problems (I am not saying this is your problem, but that is what I was assigned to manage). I suggested pictures of the student with family, maybe doing some chores and other situations. It is very effective so the members do not just focus on issues that are problems. I hope a good day and contact me privately if I can ever assist you with IEP's and other resources. : ) Hang in there, there are other members here that are in the field also that may know resources if needc.
