,

I'm so sorry you had to join our group. I had my ep in February of

this year and I still think about it almost every day. I usually

don't post much but your experience with your dr really caught my

attention.

I work for a mental health agency. I'm not a counselor, but I'm

around them enough that I do know a few things. I'm guessing that

your Primary Care Physician specializes in internal med or something

of the general sort (not mental health). You should also know that

anti-depressants are often over-prescribed or mis-prescribed by drs

that don't specialize in psych areas. Many of the ladies here,

including myself experienced first had with our EP's that unless you

go to a dr that specializes in whatever is ailing you, the results

may be less than desireable. If you work, see if your employer has

an EAP, they offer counseling and referrals either free or for little

charge. Read your insurance plan and find out what it includes. I

don't know what your mental state is, but I do know that you should

see someone who is a specialist not a generalist.

Also, if he is going to lack that much sympathy over your loss (even

6 months down the line), you may want to look for a new dr.

> I just wanted to thank all of you who took the time to welcome

me to this group. For those of you who asked, my daughter, Carson is

14 months old. We also have decided not to ttc at this point. We

had started trying a couple of months ago and after three months of

negative pregnancy tests decided that we needed to hold off for a

little while. The stress of ttc is just too much for us right now.

We are also considering adoption as a possibility (which is something

that I was interested in even before our ep but my husband is not

ready to fully entertain).

> I also wanted to share with you a really bad experience that I

had yesterday. I went to see my primary care physician to get

medicine for a sinus infection and since I hadn't been there since

before Carson was conceived I had to update my medical history with

them. I had been dreading telling them about my ep. My concerns

ended up being founded. After about a ten minute examination my

doctor drew the conclusion that I was depressed and that he wanted me

to take medication for it. He told me that he based his opinion on

the fact that I had gained weight since the last time that I saw him

(two pregnancies and two plus years) and that I could not talk to him

about this " incident which happened six months ago without crying. "

According to him I should be able to talk about this " baby who will

never be " and not get emotional. He also told me that he could just

look at me and tell that I was depressed.

> I am not sure how to deal with this situation. I am supposed

to go back to his office with my husband (his request) in three weeks

to discuss his recommendation. I really don't want to go on medicine

and I explained that to him. I was so angry when I left his office.

I think I deal with things ok on a day to day basis and I don't think

that at this point temporarily taking medication is going to help me

incorporate Angel into my life in a way that is positive (which is

what I am striving for).

> I guess I just needed to vent on this issue and also am looking for

input anyone might have.
