Guest guest
Moderator's Note: Diabetes and stress is not a good combination. My blood sugars spike like yours are describing. Spiking blood sugars also tend to intensify my emotions and thus makes the stress worse. Vicious circle. Sudden weight loss also stresses the body. My endocrinologist usually prescribes a different drug to take while stressed. Please call your doctor. , Moderator ************************** Yesterday I weighed myself and considering different scales, according to the scale at our house versus what I weighed at the doctor before my Mom died, I have lost 18 pounds. I do drink beverages all day Strawberry High Protein Boost, Throwback Mountain Dew, milk & juice (before it went bad while we were in Wisconsin this weekend). And my husband feeds me food at dinner time. I am just not hungry, which isn't all that uncommon for me really, but usually I can keep my blood sugars up and lately I can't (been 60-90s). I rarely have to bolus on my pump right now, OR the other night even though I had barely eaten or drank anything my blood sugars were in the 200+ and no matter what I bolused with the pump it took like 4 hours to come down to the 100-115 range. Is this all from losing my Mom and all that goes with that? I know stress and grief can do a lot of different things to you, but . . Just so you know the reason I drink NON-DIET stuff is that I am very allergic to ALL of the artificial/natural sweeteners (Sucralose/Splenda; Aspartame/NutraSweet; Saccharin/Sweet-n-Low; Acesulfame Potassium; Stevia/Truvia). So I drink regular pop with my Doctor's blessing and my last A1C was 5.6 (just saying this because I was accused of not caring enough about my diabetes by a group a couple of months ago and was kicked off without notice). We have to go to the grocery store but can't do that until Terry gets paid on Thursday because I used my grocery money to pay for Mom's obituary. Any suggestions?
