Guest guest
I'm not sure about meditation, but I try to practice mindfulness. It's a DBT skill that was taught at my ED treatment center. DBT is also a treatment for BPD (funnily enough), but DBT skills are useful in every facet of life. In mindfulness, you try to focus on the moment, even just for a few seconds or minutes. My favorite is to put my feet on the ground (or sit cross-legged), close my eyes, and take a few deep breaths. I let my breathing return to normal, and focus on it. This only takes a couple of seconds/breaths. Then I inhale and say (out loud or in my head) " I am here " and I exhale with " I am safe " (or " I am calm " or whatever I need to hear at that moment). I like " I am here/ I am safe " because it grounds me ( " I am HERE " in he Valley, living on my own, far away from Nada). Saying " I am safe " reminds me that I " created " the life I'm living right now. I was the one who got away from Nada, made ends meet, got help as needed, etc. I made this place safe, therefore I am no longer a victim. So yeah... cheesy, but it helps me! -Frances > > I'm trying to find a meditation to help me realize my personal power and potential and help me overcome my victim mentality. > > Thanks. > > xoxox > > Joy >
