Guest guest
I don't know where you are but the State of New Mexico has a new law affecting patients using opiates. I just had to sign a contract that was very specific about what I can and cannot do in order to continue my prescription. Also, all patients have to give a urine sample before they get to sign the contract. From my perspective, it's one of those good news/bad news situations. The bad news is that legitimate opiate users now have more hassles to deal with just to get a prescription filled. The good news is that perhaps the new law will help to prevent fatal overdoses from the jerks who abuse drugs (although I have my doubts about that). The way the laws are written do not address the jerks who abuse drugs but limit dosage, who can take opoids (non-cancer category not considered), how long they can take them, and doctors are being encouraged to start limiting the dosages because of the large overdose cases. Take the time to read Washington State Pain Act and you will be appalled. This is the example other states are going to and several states reference the Washington State Pain Laws. http://updates.pain-topics.org/2011/12/washington-state-pain-crisis-bellwether.h\ tml http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2016994769_silent12.html. http://updates.pain-topics.org/2011/09/rules-hurt-patients-with-pain-in.html The links above give an insight into these situations and paintopics.org provide updates also.
