Yes I agree totally, my son has just turned 5 and still not talking, although he can count to 20 and say his colours and alphabet and knows about 20 words (just chooses not to use them) although i make him work for what he wants, i bought him a portable dvd player for christmas and now he will bring a dvd over and place it in my hand, i say what do you want, he will say dvd, i then say ask nicely and he replys i want dvd - it is so great to hear his little voice, i am hopeful that eventually he will just ask by himself which i think he will, as before when he wanted something he would always pull my arm and each time i would say come, now he will pull my hand and say come at the same time unprompted.

,Just read your email and wanted to thank you for writing it, because it helped me and made me a bit teary.As a mother of 4.5 years old boy who still doesn't speek (only 4-5 words very unclear) I can totally relate to Joanna's fears.
