Guest guest
Orthopedic Surgeon appointment lasted over 3 hours, with exam by a student, then x-rays done of my ankles, hips, and shoulders which didn't show much but since it is common NOT to see anything on a regular X-ray, at my request Dr. Cheng ordered bilateral hips and shoulder MRIs for next Monday. But really it won't make much difference in how I am treated unless it shows significant damage in the actual joints. And even then there is no guarantee they will be able to do anything but watch it. Because you have to have good bone above & below the joint and I am pretty sure I don't. Basically I have to wait until the AVN collapses one of my joints. My right knee will probably be the 1st since there is already damage in the knee end of my femur bone within the joint. Oh goody! And then he was saying it could be from my alcohol consumption when I was younger and all the steroids I took for my allergies over the years. I drank ONE TIME in high school and paid dearly for it too. And Yes I drank occasionally as a college student because by then I was 21, but nothing major. Basically it was once at 21 like an idiot and learned my lesson quick. And once in paramedic school and PAID the next day so didn't do that again for a long time, basically not until my 40th Birthday. So seriously I am not a major drinker or drink very often even. And now for the most part, one drink and I'm out cold! Basically Chocolate Milk with 's Irish Cream or something similar in it is the only form of pain control that I can get without a trip to the ER or that requires a Rx and probably a Home Care Nurse to come access my port, give me IV Benadryl, followed by IV Fentanyl, followed by Saline and Heparin and then pull the access out again. I don't really see any doctor writing me pain medication orders like that! Maybe if I was a hospice patient, but I am far from that bad off at this point. I am very sad and frustrated at the moment and in so much pain I don't know what to do with myself. After they did my X-rays the technicians stepped out to check to make sure they were all good before I could put my shorts back on, and when the student came back I had tears rolling down my face because I was in so much pain. Ibuprofen doesn't even begin to touch the pain, but right now it is my only option. And I can't take it very often or it could destroy my stomach or something like that. My appointment at the Orthopedic Surgery clinic took over 3 hours, Terry's appointment with the cardiologist took less than 10 minutes and even though I didn't see his actual doctor multiple people in that clinic managed to set my allergies off to the point of the Benadryl not doing a thing, and having to go Epinephrine. So I seriously feel like crap. A friend is supposed to be coming over this afternoon because her son wants to try to mow our yard and really all I want to do is go to bed. My house is a disaster and I wanted to work on it but I hurt so much I think I have lost all my energy. I don't know how I am going to make it through doctor appointments every day this week and still have any sanity. My computer is being weird so hopefully this actually arrives the way I typed it but with my luck lately that won't happen, I hope it is at least read able for everyone.
