Guest guest
Amy, HeathSelect Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas approved my surgery the first try. I had surgery almost 3 weeks ago and haven't seen how well they are paying yet. Terri > I was wondering if anyone could tell me what insurance companies they > used to get approved for ortho surgery. Guest guest
--- I have Health Net and was approved the very first time also. No problems whatsoever.... I have only had one of two surgeries so far (sarpe) I have one more to go lower, genio and possible upper. If I remember correctly my insurance also approved the genio.....for some reason I can't seem to find my approval letter. Surgeon must have it......Good luck and I will keep my fingers crossed for you and your surgery approval. I am grateful I didn't have any problems, I will pass my smooth approval vibes your way........TLC In orthognathicsurgerysupport@y..., collegal21 <no_reply@y...> wrote: > I was wondering if anyone could tell me what insurance companies they > used to get approved for ortho surgery. Guest guest
Hey, Amy... I have United Health Care, and according to my surgeon, with whom I just visited this AM, says they are the best at paying for maxofacillal surgery, and that most companies don't pay for it anymore. I switched from Aetna/US Healthcare for that reason -- they are among the worst, according to the surgeon. I have not had any problems getting pre-approval for my upper (3- piece Lefort). Of course, we'll see how everything plays out in the end when he submits his bill. As he is out of network, I will probably end up paying 30% of his fee, which will be substantial. Best of luck to you! Nine days to go for me... > > I was wondering if anyone could tell me what insurance companies > they > > used to get approved for ortho surgery. Guest guest
Yes, Lynda -- you're right. I forgot to add that the procedure is under my medical plan (United Healthcare). Now, the chore is going to be to get them to pay for my surgical wires, which my ortho put in, and cost $1675! > > I was wondering if anyone could tell me what insurance companies > they > > used to get approved for ortho surgery. Guest guest
Hi Amy, right now I have blue BCBS as an insurance provider. At first they also said no way to the proceedure. From what I understand, it has alot to do with how the claim is submitted. Most companies will not pay this benefit under dental, but will cover it under a medical necessity proceedure called TMJ. Ask your doctor and your insurance company to see if you are diagnosed with TMJ and if your plan will cover it. Good Luck.
