Guest guest
From now on, when my pain management doctor prescribes a new medication, particularly one that is expensive, I am going to ask for a small quantity. I know this defeats one of the hugest problems with pain management, that being, inability to get enough pain meds to help the pain. But as of now, I have over 300 capsules of Gabapentin and 120 Flector patches that I can not use. I know it is illegal to give these things away. Doctors do not seem to care that I spent $75.00 on these totally useless patches. They are anti-inflammatory patches, supposed to put 2 patches on my back every 12 hours. Did no good whatsoever. I tried to tell him that: " Hello. It is over 100 degrees here everyday and thanks to Cymbalta and menopause, I sweat like I do not know what and they will never stick. " He demanded I try them anyway. Three days after he prescribed them, I tripped over our dog. They did not even help with my sprained ankle. I am a nurse and a little cynical of everything but I even tried putting them on our old labrador's arthritic hips, he he, useless. It is so frustrating. Had to quit my job last June after my C2-T2 fusion, pulmonary embolism and constant pain. Lost my COBRA in February and now pay $1500.00 a month for health insurance. I always knew doctors had no idea what meds cost and do not care. Sorry to be complaining but I am at about the end of my rope. Gonna switch pain docs but then I have to go thru all the initial costs again which are an arm and a leg. So much for the golden years. We are living off our IRA's and 401 K's.
