Moderator's Note: Please do not ever taper off any medications without

consulting your doctor. Going " cold turkey " on some medications could have

negative impacts on your health and might make your pain worse.

Hey all

Hope everyone is doing well. I just had to go off of 20mg Oxycodone cold turkey.

I had to find out how I was without narcotics in system in case I am unable to

get another pain doctor. I went 5 days and it was not any fun but doable. It was

after they were out of system on day 4 and 5 that my real hell began. All

muscles are wasted and could not do anything but make it from bed to couch and

back. I could not eat anything but crackers and water whole time. It was

something I needed to do and telling you all this to let you know that the cold

turkey part is not too horrible and can be done if you have too. Just make sure

you have plenty of crackers and 3 full days to be bed ridden.

Take care and wish everyone the best

Moderator Note:

Thanks for the clarification, Butch. I understand being that hard headed. Glad

you did not hurt yourself.

I apologize if I made it sound like going cold turkey is safe. Every doctor will

tell you it is not. I am just one of those hard headed and stubborn people that

can get away with it. I should have not done it but had no other way. All I was

trying to say was that doing it properly may not be as hard on a person as other

drugs would be. In no way was I advocating going cold turkey. Sorry for any

confusion.
