coumadin and follow-up care

I didn't know that coumadin (blood thinner) was taken after

surgery, but it makes sense. I was wondering how they prevented

blood clots.

OK, so I will be returning home to Buffalo, NY a few days after

the surgery in land by Dr. Mont. Will I need to line up an

orthopedic doctor here to monitor my coumadin, take xrays and/or

remove stitches? Or could my family doctor do it, and send the

results to Dr. Month in land?
