Hi everyone. I wanted to bring your attention to my posting on the

Totally Hip Board yesterday. I had found an article (and posted it)

with steps to do when insurance coverage is denied. It may be

helpful to some who are facing upcoming resurfacing procedures. The

site, if you don't know it, is:

http://disc.server.com/Indices/8340.html

Also, Hal and Don are correct in their posting on the acetabular

cup. It should be about the same; if there is a difference, it

wouldn't be more than 1 mm.

Now if I can do an about face for just a moment, I'd like to share a

few quick thoughts. (BTW, these thoughts are from a 39 yr.old Female

with osteoarthritis in R. hip facing insurance approval for

resurfacing)...I've run the gammut of emotions these last few years

while battling this disease. For most of these past 2 yrs, as the

arthritis has progressed to the advanced stages, and now bone-on-

bone, I have been consumed with " me " and how to fight this thing.

While this is normal, I was getting a little tired of all the focus I

was giving myself, so I started looking outside of myself and family

to see how I could be a blessing/make a difference in someone else's

life. A friend has been battling an unknown illness for quite

sometime, and her husband was being Mr. Mom. My first thought was

that I could help by fixing meals for the family and dropping them

by. My second thought was that I'm in so much pain, how can I even

make it to their front door with the cane AND the food? (A silly

thought, I know, but a real one nonetheless). But I decided to buck

up and do what I could, and it has been very rewarding to do

something that is a blessing to someone. God's grace has been

sufficient for me. I'm also counting my blessings on what IS working

right in my body. I've got every part I was born with, and

technology available to fix my hip. So, as we approach Thanksgiving

(those in the U.S.)let's all take time to focus on the good things in

our lives. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Colleen
