Guest guest
Ah, the powers of insane denial. You are not crazy. You are not crazy. You are not crazy. Pretty freaky to see crazy like that up close and personal in your own car, though, huh? > > Nada's in town, again. I had to drive her to a Dr. appt. WHAT HORRIBLE PARENTS EXPOSES THEIR CHILD TO POT? I mean I can see if the child is 40 and knows their parent needs it for back or arthritis (Nada is currently getting a medical M. card for 'back issues') but really? A 21 YEAR OLD? Guest guest
Do as I say, not as I do. That seems to be a common nada way of thinking. Either they don't see how much their behavior is like the behavior they criticize in others or they think they're somehow special and allowed to behave differently. If they hit their child, it is for a good reason. If they expose their children to problem drinking and drug use what they're doing isn't harmful unlike what other parents do. If they neglect their child to run around with various men, they're entitled to have a life and not be lonely. And so on and so forth. Guest guest
I remember having these very conversations with my father about my mother. She got pregnant before she was married (at 17) and yet I was " whoring around " when I moved in with the man I have now been married to for 15 years. My mother lied and told people she had leukemia for months and yet " I " am a pathological liar. My mother ran off to get married to a man she barely knew, but I was a horrible person for moving 280 miles away and " leaving her. " The lists are endless. And it's frustrating to no end to try to get through to them what they're doing. They just can't (or won't) see it. In a message dated 6/24/2010 9:52:53 A.M. Guest guest
no, you are not crazy. My nada used to listen to Dr. , (those who not familiar with her she was a psychologist who had a radio show broadcast in my area, don't know if she still does) and my nada would tell me about some of the callers and would say, " why don't these people see how ridiculous they are and take Dr. 's advice " . It took me all my strength to sit there and nod in agreement with her all the while thinking, " you should be gaining some perspective lady! " That was of course before I truly realized my nada is ill, but still. *sigh* > >yes, I've had very sinilar things...only it was nada and me > >witnissing a > >mohter hitting her child in a parking lot..and nada gets all > >upset about > >that " poor child " to have such a terrible mother !!! Guest guest
This shows my evil side a little. One of my favorite things to do with my nada is tell her about a situation when someone does something she has commonly done over the years and express my honest opinion of that persons behavior. She will always agree with me and quickly go into a long speech about how she would not do such a thing and why. I get a kick out of it. > > Nada's in town, again. I had to drive her to a Dr. appt. Guest guest
Sane is highly overrated. You are not crazy. And you are not responsible for how crazy she is. RESIST ....don t try to teach a pig to sing or a BP not to deny. It wastes your time and annoys them. Doug > > Nada's in town, again. I had to drive her to a Dr. appt. Guest guest
I like your post so much Lynette! Ahhhhh, about to see my mother for a solid 6 days, driving in a car together for 11 hours, feeling a bit scared about that. We live in different states, my doing, see eachother about 2x a year. Both of us can barely make 4 days together. She claims she misses me so much but yet seems to barely be able to stand me. Anyway. I wish it was different between us. Maybe one day I will have accumulated enough skills to be able to be around her for longer than 4 days and not be saying in my head..... I am not crazy. I am not crazy. I am not crazy. Thanks again Lynette! ~Aimee~ To: WTOAdultChildren1 From: melreb@... Date: Fri, 2 Jul 2010 15:00:17 +0000 Subject: Re: I am not crazy. I am not crazy. I am not crazy. Guest guest
this whole thing with my SIL's & brother's kids is in part because of how SIL singles out one of her children and favors the other and parental unit female says it just 'breaks my heart' all the time. it's a tough nut to swallow considering my fada singled me out all through my childhood and my mother told me it was my fault because I was such a rotten kid. and I am her least favorite child as well. it definitely puts me in the questioning mode of 'am I crazy?' why does this bother her now, it didn't bother her when it was happening to me. sometimes I get this evil feeling of saying 'just tell yourself child x deserves it, that's what you did with me and it seemed to work well then'. I am as grieved as she is about this situation and i empathize *because* of what I went through. it is beyond ironic to watch her act like it is the most horrible thing in the world for a child to be singled out and treated less favorably after what they put me through as a child. I don't bring it up because it isn't helping anything currently but it really gripes me. > > Nada's in town, again. I had to drive her to a Dr. appt.
