breakthrough: borderline's 'cutting' on their children

WTOs, I just had a major revelation and wanted to share with everyone. My nada

does not cut or self-mutilate, or harm her own body in any way, and I have

always been a little confused by that particular aspect of the BPD diagnostic

criteria. It seems to be considered a central aspect of the disorder.

In contemplating the thread on mother-daughter sexual abuse, I came across the

following article. I realized that my nada DOES cut--constantly, and she does

it compulsively, and she does it to relieve stress. But she cuts on ME, by

various forms of sexual abuse. She thinks I am her. She can't tell the

difference. This article may be triggering to some because it has one or two

vivid phrases every once in awhile, so be warned. It is extremely helpful

though so I'm posting it for anyone interested in the topic.
