Guest guest
I am a long-time subscriber and I rarely post. I have suffered from chronic daily headaches 24/7 since 1992 with 2 previous periods of daily headaches when I was younger. I have done all of the usual things; numerous doctors, conventional, alternative. I have been on dozens of prescription drugs and many hundreds of nutritional supplements. I take 120 mg a day of oxycontin, 30 mg a day of oxycodone, and 2 1200 mcg Actiq daily. I have been on this routine for 10-12 years. (12 for oxycontin, 10 for actiq.) I work 50-55 hours a week and have done so for decades. I have a position of responsibility and accepted it in 2002 after finally finding consistent pain relief. Today my pharmacy called and said as of 3-13-12 the FDA rules now state that actiq is only for cancer pain. I have been prescribed this off-label for a decade and it is not only legal but has given me an amazing quality of life (compared to not having it). I was told this was a federal law and is now the law in all 50 states. I assume this is correct and I will discuss this with my doctor on Tuesday. He has been warning me about this for 2-3 years. I believe he will prescribe me liquid morphine as we have talked about this before. Any thoughts on how this might compare to the actiq would be greatly appreciated! Does anyone have any other suggestions for quick pain relief? Thank you,
