Guest guest
Just because you're having a run-in with some obnoxious people doesn't mean you haven't come far on the road to getting better. Roads are full of twists and turns and potholes. They may slow you down, but they don't stop you from getting there. It seems to me that you should be able to find options between the extremes of letting them treat you this way and walking away while letting them keep your money. You have a written contract with these builders, right? What does it say their responsibilities to you are? What recourse does it give you if they don't do what they're supposed to do? Hopefully you didn't sign something so one-sided that they get to keep your money even if they don't do their job. If it seems like they're not going to do what they're being paid to do, you may have to fire them and hire other builders, then take them to court to get your money back. Guest guest
One thing I have learned is that experiences with contractors can just be really, really horrible. Followed by real estate transactions. Part of it is that it has to do with your home, which is really deep, versus their goal, which is to make money. There are good contractors and good real estate people out there. It has nothing to do with you or you bringing bad karma to yourself. The best thing to do is to get recommendations from friends who have had good experiences with reputable people, and then get everything in writing. I recently had a bad real estate experience and the agent was pressuring me to sell low and I just stood up to her and told her I wasn't selling the house. It wasn't worth it to sell at a loss. And she had me hire some crappy contractor to paint, and I know what you mean about not wanting to deal with them. I should have them come fix it but I just don't want them in my house. But I'm only out 5K. You should see if you can cancel the contract and get at least some of your money back and then hire another contractor to fix it. Best of luck, Lindsey > > I thought I had come so far on my road to getting better, but things keep happening to me that are starting to convince me otherwise. I left family 2 1/2 years ago, and thought I had stopped walking around with a chip on my shoulder.(thanks to bpd nada and bpd sibling). I got run off the road by a road rager a few weeks ago, and did fine. No, I didn't provoke it. It was random,I was just wrong place, wrong time. Anyway, I didn't even get mad, just scared! LOL! Well, something happened to me tonight that makes me thing it has to be some sort of scent, aura, or something out to attract horrible people to me. My hubby and I are trying to have a house built, and every encounter we have with the builders is horrible! They say one thing and do another, When I ask them to clarify, they ALWAYS turn it back on me. I feel like everytime I start to trust and try again, some asshole comes and runs me over. I am now having to make the decision to either let these ffolks contiue to treat me like their stepchild, or lose $6000.00 dollars to walk away! Help! What would you do? I am so tired of this. >
