Guest guest
Hi, My son has a 311 and loves it. He had Bicross analog aids before and hated wearing them. He now goes to bed with his hearing aid in. There has been much improvement in noisy situations and in general. The FM boot is integrated into the aid, snaps into the bottom of the aid, and looks like the aid not a boot. My understanding is that you can use the tx3 with the integrated microlink. the Claro 311 is great but it has been very susceptible to moisture and we use a " dry and store " system to deal with this. wears a head band between the aid and his head for sports and sometimes wears a super seal for baseball on hot days. The biggest problem has been the FM and it seems to be an issue with the match of some of the earlier aids and the FM. This is being taken care of and a gasket between the microlink and the Aid has been installed on later models to prevent moisture from entering. The FM is fantastic when it's working well can hear me outside in the yard or playing basketball out front. It is easy to use and the clarity is good. He also wears it at school and uses it to listen to movies on tv with. To deal with the moisture problem the aid should have its filter changed regularly and sometimes a new ear hook and tube. These things are easy to do and the filters are free from phonak. The filter is the gray band on top of the aid. I remove this with a straight pin and press a new one into place. the microphones are underneath at each end of the filter. One thing I would mention that its is very important to get an Audie that is proficient in programing the Claro with kids. My son likes it because he can control it with his watch pilot which is a remote control in his watch. He can adjust volume and switch programs with this including his FM. Good luck, vern
Guest guest
Hi All, I am in the process of getting Phonak Calro 311 dAZ hearing aids for my 4 and 1/2 year old boy. He currently wears Phonak Novo Forte hearing aids and uses Microlink MLx FM Receiver and TX2 FM Transmitter. I heard that Claros are not compatible with MLx Receiver. Can we still use the same TX2 FM transmitter and get a boot and Receiver compatible with claros? Also could you please share yours and your kids experiences with Claro 311's? I know we already had a discussion on this one time, but I would love to know about it one more time. I also like to know what differences did you notice in your kids speech/behavior after they got Claros. My son hears between 65 and 85 in his better ear, some audiologists say he has moderately severe - severe loss and some say Severe - Profound. My son speaks real well, he misses only his s's, f's and r's. In some listening situations with back ground noise and whenever he has congesion he has hard time hearing some sounds. I thought the features in Claros may help him in this situations. His Left ear has profound loss. Thanks in advance, Sirisha. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. Guest guest
Thank You for the information regarding Claros. I am trying to get Phonak Claro 311 dAZ without integrated Microlink. Can I know how old your son is and the type of loss he has (if you dont mind). I am trying to see if this aids are suitable to my sons loss or not. I use the Electronic Moisture Gaurd from Sound Bytes to dry my sons aids. I keep them in it every night before I sleep and dry them until morning. My sons school audiologist is very experienced and I hope she can do good job programming these aids for my son. She already did for another boy of same age. Can I know the price of your sons aids? My audiologist said each aid will cost $2395 for the ones without Integrated Microlink. I am not sure if I still can use the same FM transmitter (TX2) or not. Thank you, Sirisha. >From: vrnwallace@... >Reply-To: Listen-Up >To: Listen-Up >Subject: Re: Phonak Claro 311 dAZ >Date: Mon, 4 Mar 2002 08:29:44 EST > >Hi, > >My son has a 311 and loves it.
