Guest guest
Jackie is taking veetid a form of chewable pennacylian. It has sacharine in it, and while it tastes a bit " yucky " , it follows the keto. Our pediatrician spent some time trying to find the right drug for her strep. Guest guest
The times Tyler has needed an antibiotic while on the diet, we've gotten the capsule form of Amoxycillan. He learned to be a good pill taker prior to the diet! I would think you could open the capsules and mix with something if you needed to.. might need to check with the doctor or pharmacist. Guest guest
Hi, Dillon had an ear infection last week. He was put on a no carb adult capsule called Duricef.(generic-cefadroxil). He did not improve and frankly I was glad because opening the capsule and eyeballing half for a dose was hard plus it tasted nasty. We we switched to another no carb on the list called Ceftin (cefuroxime). This is a small blue pill that came in a low enough dose I did not have to split it and he was much better at swallowing it then having to take that nasty capsule powder. If your child can swallow pills I would go with a pill form. Hope this helps. Guest guest
We've used liquid amoxyl and had the dietitian find out carb content and calculate it in. She was able to find the details from the manuf. more easily that me, and now I keep the recipe on hand for when ever we need to use the same drug. Always ask the doctor to prescribe the particular brand that we now have the numbers for. (Hannah's mum, Australia) ear infection? was up several times during the night complaining of pain in her ear. She still hasn't got over her viral cold that has her coughing hours a day. Anyways, my husband happens to have a doctor's appointment this morning and is going to bring along with him so that the doctor can check her ears. What do they prescribe. Obviously amoxicillan liquid suspension is out because of the carbs. Do your children take the capsules? Pam "The Ketogenic Diet....a realistic treatment option, NOT just a last resort!" Guest guest
My son was on it - in capsule. I was told there are no carbs in it and it was safe - he never had any problems while on it (he was on it three times a day for 10 days) Jenn Pam wrote: was up several times during the night complaining of pain in her ear.
