Guest guest
Jen, I have had the IVig treatment. And like you, I too have the worst part of my problems with my left foot. My left foot is really a dead limb, and has been since i was diagnosed in 2006. I wear an AFO on my left foot to keep it from getting in my way. And to improve my walking capabilities. I had my IVig therapy back in 2006, and it really did not do exactly what they wanted and the doctors had hoped for. But, slowly over the last 5 years, i have improved significantly. And the doctors are confident that that treatment was a great help, along with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and medications. I am walking, of which I was in a wheel chair for over a year and hospice for 9 months. And now, I hold a full time job as a retail store manger, working 50 hours a week. I can play with my grandchildren, without the fear of them touching me and it sending me into orbit from the hypersensitivity of my nerves. Don't get me wrong, I still have pain, but, for the most part, it is well managed, most of the time. So, I am sending you prayers, blessings, and good karma, that this is very helpful to you. And that you gain faster results from it then I did. Everything will go beautifully, and this treatment will be good. I have every confidence in this.Sharon, TX Jen wrote: I went to Philadelphia on Monday for a QST test, which is part of the approval process. The trip was tough, but the test wasn't too bad -- except when they had to do the test on my left foot, which is where my RSD is the worst. The results came determined I was hypersensitive. Dr Schwartzman is on vacation and returns next week. When he comes back, he will review the results and determine if I am a candidate for the 5 day inpatient IVIg (gamma globulin) infusion. After that, we have to get approval from my insurance company. I am not counting my chickens before they hatch or putting my eggs in one basket. We should know more next week.
