Guest guest
More questions: What meds does the grapefruit seed extract interact with? Ben is really only on Zantac and sinus meds. Just wondering if it is only AEDs or other meds. If you know, please advise. Anne
Guest guest
Anne, We had problems with the benzodiazepines, the grapefruit extracts affect how the meds are metabolised, usually raises their effectiveness. We were told the opposite by a pharmacist, but either way was a problem for us. was toxic at that stage, nearly tipped him over the edge. My youngest used to be on a reflux med that was the same, think it was prepulsid. Someone posted a whole list of affected meds a couple of months ago, not sure were they accessed it from, but you should see it in the archives, Hill, mother to in NZ Stevia-Grapefruit extract question > More questions: What meds does the grapefruit seed extract interact with? > Ben is really only on Zantac and sinus meds. Guest guest
I think I recall grapefruit being added as a caution to my daughter's Tegretol bottle -- it's been a few years, though. Can anyone confirm?--D --- The Crownovers wrote: > More questions: What meds does the grapefruit seed > extract interact with? > Ben is really only on Zantac and sinus meds. Guest guest
I was one of the people requesting a list the last time this was discussed here and I saved the email - this list is pulled from that email: (tegretol is on the list) You may want to do a websearch, but the list I have is from Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, TN: Norvasc Lipitor Buspar Tegretol Pletal Anafranil Sandimmune Valium Erythromycin Plendil Mevaco Methadone Versed Cardene Procardia Nimotop Sular Seroquel Quinidine Invirase Zoloft Viagra Zocor Prograf Halcion It also states that other fruits and fruit juices do not cause the same effects as grapefruit. They also note that if you have been using grapefruit with these meds, that you should NOT stop either until you have talked with your doctor. I also have another email saying that benzos are increased with the diet There is stuff also about dilantin drug interactions if anyone is interested they can check the archives for this or I can email it privately if you want to read it. Hope that helps Jenn DeEtte Person wrote: I think I recall grapefruit being added as a caution to my daughter's Tegretol bottle -- it's been a few years, though. Guest guest
Just to clarify: this list came from me - some research I had done on a college paper. This list applies to grapefruit pieces and juices. It doesn't mention extract, so I'm not sure this applies. By now, I'm sure all the drug companies are well aware of the interactions. Therefore, I would call the manufacturer of the drug and ask them about the extract. We cantruthfully say that there are no drugcontraindications that have ever surfaced in30 years of safe usage.Regards, -Sam /Nutriteamhttp://nutriteam.comhttp://steamdistiller.comhttp://nutriteam.com/weinproducts.htmNutriTeam is committed to your well-being!1 800 785-9791 9-5EST, M-F.-----Original Message-----From: martin Sent: Saturday, January 19, 2002 11:48 AMTo: support@...Subject: drug interactions???I am a long time consumer of Nutribiotics GSE. recently ithas come to myattention that there may be some interaction with Grapefruitandantiepileptic medications (valium, phenobarb tegritol)increasing them tohigher blood levels.I was wondering if the Citricidal has this same effect??thank youBarb @...
