Guest guest
Kat, the TENS unit sends electrical signals through the skin to the peripheral nerves, thereby stopping the pain impulses the brain sends down to the peripheral nerves. My muscle pain is directly related to my peripheral nerve pain. And my peripheral nerve pain CAN cause muscle pain. The PT explained to me the TENS unit is good for stopping nerve pain BEFORE it can cause muscle pain. I think it is like starting a 'back fire' in trying to put out a forrest fire. The electrical impulses from TENS kind of 'trick' the brain's nerve impulses. TENS has been around since the 1960's. I can't figure out why it took me this long to actually try it. But then I wouldn't have had so many Dr. visits complaining about pain(they wouldn't have had any business) also the pharmaceutical companies would have gone broke without me lol - Gretchen
