Guest guest
Question to those of you who have gone thru the hair loss... How high/good was your protein intake during the early months after surgery? Does there seem to be any connection between lower protein intake and hair loss??? I'd really love to know how many grams per day some of you were getting in. Thanks in advance! -Kathy

LOL, I have been this route 4-5 times before, lost a large amount of weight, and equally as much hair. I was never protein conscious before, plus I was always purging while loosing the weight. I was really hoping the higher protein intake would help avoid the inevitable!!! I'm just over 2 months out and I know for me, the 3 month mark is when I start to clog the shower drain... To make matters worse, I've let my hair grow out (no more layers) and not much perm remaining to make it look fuller. I think I'm screwed!!!!! I will look for that " hair " product at Walmart tonight... it can't hurt hu? -Kathy
Guest guest
Hi all, Hope everyone’s having a great Holiday season thus far. I’ve seen a lot of family that I haven’t connected with in a while, and it’s been great. My brothers saw me at Thanksgiving for the first time since surgery, and told me I looked like a different person. Amazing to get a compliment from a brother who teased me about being obese when we were little. Anyway, it was great to see them. I did pretty well at Thanksgiving food-wise. I ate more carbs than needed, but at least I didn’t STUFF myself. At a weeding over the weekend, I did overeat, but I prett much stuck to shrimp cocktail, so I’m not worried about it. Anyway... Now that my hair is TOTALLY thin, I’ve gotten it cut short, and am now able to see these little new hairs growing in. YIPEE! For those of you who have experienced this, did you find that the little hairs itch when you lie down? My whole head feels a little prickly... it’s driving me nuts, but I’m NOT complaining! Just wondering if this has happened to others. Hugs to all, AA
Guest guest
Alice, Being a hairdresser, when new hair grows in, it will tend to feel prickly a bit! It grows straight out until added weight (to the hair that is) helps to bring it " downward " . You may want to try conditioning it more frequently, prior to bedtime, and not rinsing it thoroughly until morning. It should help soften it a bit! Good luck! Guest guest
Kathy, I lost hair from about my 3-6 mo. period. I have a lot of fine hair to begin with, so it sure didn't help! If you get between 40-60 gr of protein daily, it does help a little. You can also buy a vitamin called " HAIR " (sold at Wal-mart)...that helps also! Lastly, don't overly brush the hair, especially when wet, let it air dry first, then brush after a good conditioning. Guest guest
Kathy, I’ve heard that if it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen. I’ve always been very good with protein... at least 50g a day, and still lost a lot of hair. I don’t think there’s much you can do about it. I know others feel differently, but that’s my 2 cents. - AA kchyet@... wrote: > Question to those of you who have gone thru the hair loss... Guest guest
Won't hurt a bit! Another thing, you may want to consider taking some of your length off a bit, to help reduce the weight of it pulling...as we know...gravity sucks!
