Guest guest
Hi Penny, Please do not share this with Dr. Armstrong or anyone else in the Ft. group. I don't want to offend anyone, and cannot be sure my surgery was done the same as all the others. When I started looking into a tummy tuck, I decided I wanted Dr. Fox in Tacoma WA to do it, as he is used to the extra blood supply (from the obesity) and deals with only obese and formerly obese patients. As part of his preop requirements I had to have an UGI. It showed I had almost half a stomach, not a pouch. This along with the amount of food I could eat, scared me. I had an EGD (putting the tube down into the stomach) when I got to WA which showed I had a 200cc pouch, as opposed to the 30cc pouch we were supposed to have. From what I could find out, it was amazing that I had gotten to 145lbs, and wouldn't get any lower and would very likely gain most all of my weight back. This was unacceptable to me. Tricare denied my tummy tuck and so since I was on my own, I decided to have the pouch revised and the anastomosis changed (as Armstrong only bypassed 12 inched in me). So I did this on 11-2. I am still feeling pretty crummy, as I would expect, but I now have a 21cc pouch, a much larger bypass, a waist (they took off 6 inches in my waist during surgery) and a FLAT stomach, even swollen. I will be paying for this forever, but it is worth it to me. I should end up between 120 and 125 pounds, which is appropriate for my 5'5 " height. Again, I don't want to step on anyone's toes, so please do not share this information. I will be back at my house (dr4kids@...) later next week or early next week. Thank you for your confidence. Guest guest
I was told that men and non-menstruating women don't need more iron than what we get in a standard multi-vitamin. Some people on this list have been told that's not correct. I know that some doctors think that too much iron isn't good for our heart health. Anyway, every time I've had my iron checked it's come back ok. I get it checked once every 6 months. I'm guessing that between the chewable multi-vitamin and the iron I get from food that I'm getting plenty of iron. Guest guest
I was told the same Dot, and my levels are ok with the multiple vitamin, as long as you take the " complete " formula... Guest guest
Trina-- If it turns out to be an ulcer, and it sounds like that may be a possibility, waiting can be very dangerous. Ulcers can start bleeding and that can be fatal. You need to get some medical attention as soon as you can. --El
Guest guest
Karyn, If you write about Pancreatitis induced by medicine in your book I would love to be a part of it. Just let me know what I can do. I got my blood test done today and the lady left a 2 inch needle scrape on my arm. It's pretty sore for being what it is. I will know how it is sometime tomorrow. I hope you have luck in finding someone who will give you IV nutrition for so long. I was wondering if I could get my doc to do that and plan on asking him on Wed. Talk to you soon. Guest guest
We are pretty experienced with constipation issues here. My daughter suffers chronic constipation which is one of the features of her syndrome and has been treated extensively for it for a number of years so maybe I can help you. We have just started the diet and have already got a bowel plan set up for her. OGM
