Does anyone know of any link between asbestos and

seizures? My children's school has been shut down

and, according to the County, had the most startling

exposure of children to asbestos they had ever seen.

It's very scary. . .and I'm obviously very upset. My

husband is in the environmental field and has

explained to me all the particulars about asbestos

(and says there is absolutely no link to seizures --

that it's all related to lung cancers that appear many

years down the road), but it still makes me wonder. .

..especially since 's seizures worsened signicantly

about three weeks after starting in that building.

I'm also concerned, because, if the asbestos was that

bad, there could also have been other problems, as

well. Just curious as to whether anyone has any

information or resources on this.--D

Hi D

Not sure of a link between seizures and asbestos but I once worked with a lady

who had

been a contractor- she took a large contract removing asbestos from a number of

apt

complexes. She couldn't get alot of workers so she did the work herself. She did

not use

alot of protective gear- she developed some strange neurological signs within 12

months-

eventually diagnosed with ALS although not all her signs were consistent with

ALS. She

said she was confident that the neuro signs were caused by the asbestos. She

eventually

died but never developed Ca. She did have a series of seizures before her death

but these

were probably caused more by a deteoriation than the initial exposure. So I

guess what

I'm saying is that there may be a connection eventhough there is not too much

documented.

BTW I typed in asbestos/seizures on Google and there were alot of responses.

Hope things

turn out OK.
