Guest guest
Hi Penney I haven't posted in quite awhile due to the overwhelming experience of my divorce. I too was working as long as I could in 2001 and had to switch to a less stressful population. Then I went part time and then in 2005 I just couldn't do it anymore, even part time. I applied for SSD and was rejected as they said I didn't have one of their official qualifying diseases. I appealed with the help of an attorney, as I couldn't deal with anything legal on top of my divorce without help. After almost a year and a half I had the denial over turned and received my retroactive benefits. I have a doctorate in Psychology and wasn't able to do even the easiest job with any consistency as I never know from one day to another, or even one hour to the next, how I will feel. I wish there was some work out there which I could do whenever I felt better. I am hoping and praying that after the divorce I could work part time a little. I think what was crucial in my case were the doctors notes stating I had intractable pain and nothing relieved it. I still don't understand why I was rejected the first time but it all worked out. The attorney did take a $5,000 fee from my retroactive benefits, but for me it was well worth it not to have to deal with the SSA at all. At that time my ex was still paying for everything and not claiming he suddenly went broke as he is now, after filing for divorce again. a
