Guest guest
How many patients on here have to do urine drug testing? I have been going to the same doctor since 2000. Apparently most people randomly pull a ball out of a bag. if it's black they drug test you.I have never been asked to pick a ball etc. I would also be upset with the staff counting the drugs and it's questionable that the office would take and keep controlled rugs. It would make more sense for them to write for less the next month then to throw them away. Guest guest
I've never been asked to do a drug test. I did have to sign a contract with a pain management doctor but I never got my medications from that doctor. My pcp always has prescribed my pain meds no matter where I've lived. I suppose I've only chosen doctors who I have a good relationship with, any others were fired. There has to be two way communication and compassionate care or I don't feel they earn my respect. Guest guest
It's listed on my pain contract that they can ask but I've never had to. They have no business taking drugs from you. Adjusting the next amount is appropriate. " Sweet Goat Mama " CarAlyn Eddy www.goattracksmagazine.com

Deb, This Pain management doctor does as he has a high volume clinic and he drug tests everyone to monthly to make sure the medications you are taking are the ones he was giving you. It has nothing to do with my relationship, he is protecting himself. My other doctor did not require drug testing but required a pain diary and functional assessment form to make sure what the was giving was appropriate. I have to do it and it is posted on the door that all patients do. I have had Darvocet show up when I was at my Dad's he said my Oxycodone was making me to sleepy so I went to my old PC doctor and got 10 Darvocet (This is a lower pain medication) to drive on as it does not cause sedation for me. I wrote it on the form and my Nurse practitioner said nothing but the next time chewed me out, but I told her I did what was best for me and I could not get through to the nurses at their clinic. I told them I am not a drug addict and when I first started back here I don't want any problems and I don't. I told her that they never look at my physical therapy reports, discuss any other options and that is violation of their part of the pain contract. I told them I am doing the best I can with what I have and I don't need condensation. When I had my kidney surgery, the hospital gave me Hydrocodone and my husband gave me that by mistake but I did not take any Oxycodone so I was only taking one medication. I could not drive three hours, once a month, and pay two hundred fifty dollars for the other doctor I had and my insurance was always messing up. So I will stay here since I am on titered dose as I do not need any changes right now. But most large clinics do this to protect them. Guest guest
I know that the clinic I go to does test, but have never once asked me to. I of course wouldn't care. I would be a little irked if I had to pay for it out of my pocket. I almost want to ask why they have never asked me to, but I am not going there. It has been interesting sitting in the waiting room hearing other patients talking; saying a) that my doctor told the patient that he doesn't believe in break through meds 2) he never prescribes anything stronger then ______ 3) I have heard patients in the waiting room calling and arranging drug deals; that patient walked out of the office without prescriptions. I am so lucky that I have a doctor that has always listened to me and has always listened to me when I say I need more medication. Granted I have asked to wean down on doses. and have been on the same dose for a couple of years. So, in the USA, for the patients that are drug tested - is the insurance charged every visit for the drug test - or who pays for it? Debra, Five hundred dollars with a negotiated amount of 350.00 and they pay it . The month I was without insurance, I had to pay it. It is a racket with some kind of kick back. Being a RN, you know that pharmacy representatives (I used to be one also) give samples, free lunches, pens and other goodies and one of the attributes you have to have is to be " Good Looking " and our region manager encourages short skirts etc. I did not like this but I see the reps come in with their five inch heels, short skirts and get by the sign in sheet to just see the " doctor for a minute " to talk about a seminar in the Bahamas or other things. So, I also hear what receptionist say, patients, and if there is a person who does the janitorial services, they really know the scope. When I worked at the hospital, I sought out the housekeepers and befriended them, they know whats happening. Bennie
