I found medical alert bracelets that are actually USB flash drives. So in case of a medical emergency they can just plug it into their computer and pull up your medical information. >If you are interested in checking them out here is the link: >http://tinyurl.com/ybx3m8y Everyone USB Flash drives are small, inexpensive and can hold a lot of data. I gave my oldest granddaughter one for her birthday last year with a lanyard so she can wear it around her neck. Just be cautious of what data you put on the unit. Guest guest
I am thinking that perhaps they wouldn't use a USB directly from a patient, because of the risk of a computer virus transmission to their computer systems through that USB. You never know when a disgruntled ex-employee may use such a procedure to " get even " with the hospital system. Just a thought, but terrorists might also be considering such a thing, because it is unsuspected by the average American. They watch and learn from movies and cop shows, too. >Medusa wrote: > A hospital that doesn't have USB in their PC'S?? Why wouldn't they be > able to use them? Guest guest
The reason being is the fear of corrupting their system i.e s virus . Guest guest
Any decent anti-virus program would cover that.....don't tell me they have no anti virus. It seems to me ludicrous that they bank solely on any last records known *if* the patient has been at their hospital before. >Deb RN wrote: > The reason being is the fear of corrupting their system i.e s virus . Guest guest
That's true, BUT it has the medic alert symbol on it and I'm pretty sure you cant put anything on there except your medical information through the program they have put on there. I'm not really sure on that one, but I would imagine that to be true because it is specifically made for that. I mean, it's not like it's just a random USB from a patient claiming to have their medical information on there. -Kayla > > I am thinking that perhaps they wouldn't use a USB directly from a patient, > because of the risk of a computer virus transmission to their computer > systems through that USB.
