Guest guest
Hi everyone! Thanks to all of you who have welcomed me. This is a friendly, helpful group for sure. I'm beginning to get a taste of the running around that you all have been doing (and getting) for some time now. Today I spent chasing records. I have a great need-to-know about my son's bilirubin count for the few weeks period after his birth. I want that knowledge -- I want to know if that might or might not be the cause... and of course I want all the information possible available to the ENT on Thursday when he talks to us about the results of Eamon's CT scan and blood tests. I had called our doctor's office early last week to ask for that information, and had not received a call-back -- so, I stopped by there today to look at the records myself. No records for my son anywhere to be found. Nightmare. (for me and the lady in charge of the records I am sure) She mentioned getting the call, and said " That's the one we were looking for. " Uh oh... They all looked for a while. No Luck. They promised to keep looking. So, I made an appointment for Thursday morning for a well-child check (my son is due for one). That gives them more time to find his record, and gives me (hopefully) the information I need to take to the ENT Thursday afternoon. There're more to this story, I visited two other places in my search for records of my son's bilrubin testing and results... but this was not much trouble compared to some things I've been reading others have had to go through... so I'll spare you. I just wanted to say Thank-you to you all -- and the information that I have received so far from this group (like the information on the assistive listening technology from today) has been and will be very helpful on Wednesday for the IEP meeting. I'm not expecting to be given a hard time at the IEP meeting -- but at least I know enough now to stand my ground if I am. take care, Pat (PS -- the super-duper-wonderful audiologist just called and said that she was going to fax an addendum to the initial report that states that an FM system is recommended for my son...) Hi Pat, I am just curious as to why you are interested in the bilirubin count? Have you read something about this in regard to hearing loss? The reason I am inquiring is 2 of my boys became jaundiced after birth and had to have the bilirubin monitored. My oldest is normal hearing but Mark is severe to profound. Just wondering and good luck tracking the info. Debbie Mark's mom
