Guest guest
Among the many issues I deal with - this one has persisted and I am feeling the urge to do something. Right knee only. I have had surgery to repair the meniscus but they found a tear in the ACL but don't repair unless it is torn apart vs. a tear in it. The meniscus healed and I immediately began to have pain in my knee whenever I stepped or put pressure on it. I went back to my surgeon and he said " no pain, no gain " . Seriously. So, I saw another surgeon and he said it was patellofemoral syndrome. Basically, in my case, my knee cap strays, bumps into my tibia and femur and whatever else. It slides around...doesn't stay in place. I have IT syndrome and bursitis in my thighs but these came later and this has a lot to do with being hypermobile. Which is why PT hasn't worked. After 6 years, I still have pain and at 34 I don't really want knee replacement anytime soon! I have been mulling over going to see an orthopedic surgeon and asking his opinion. I did speak with my primary care physician and we both agree that I don't want surgery. The kicker is that I don't want constant pain. And, now my left knee and hips have been overcompensating and sometimes I feel like toppling over, so I don't want any damage there, either! Any insights?
