The hospital I had my transplant at was huge. But except for one nurse, they

all acted like they had nothing else to do but take care of me. I have never

seen so many competent caring people in my life.

THe respiratiory therapist was an idiot and she's lucky she didn't come back

after she took the tube out. I would have talked harshly to her. She shoved

the tube in so far it hit my gag reflex and also almost broke my nose

putting the CPAP mask on. They couldn't figure out why I had a panic attack.

Try not to gag after you've had surgery. It really hurts.

Carol,

I had the same experience with my Dad's care except for ONE nurse.

Baylor Hospital in Plano has valet and we were leaving while my Dad was in

surgery to go get something to eat and check in the hotel.

The podium the valets stand at was empty when we came down and it was outside

cold and windy.

A man in a suit came by and said " Can I help you? " We told him our story and he

went and a guy came out fast and went to get our car.

The man in the suit had a name tag but I couldn't see it as his arm covered it

while talking.

I told him, " You must be Administration, as that is the last post I worked in

am just like you, We all work to help each other "

He said, " I am the PRESIDENT of Baylor, Mr Valentine " and smiled.

I had a pamphlet and I said, " You must be, here is your picture "

He gave us his card and said " Anything you need, you call me, day or

night, home or cell. "

What a good feeling, we got in our car, the guy had warmed it up.

That is how I was trained and it is the way it should be and these people have

lots to do, they just do it with commitment and loyalty. I am so glad I was

able to work with committed people as this ninety five per cent of my medical,

Military, Civilian and VA careers.

People will respond in kind and the patients need to know they are number one. I

did not have to pee in the cup last time or today. My nurse practitioner said

" Do you take Benzines? " I said not that I know of but I do not take ANY drugs

I am not prescribed.

She goes, Oh, you have a prescription for Restoril, a sleeping pill. Did you

take it I said , " Yes, I was at my Dad's house and his bed hurts my back: "

She says, " Just so we document " I said LOUDLY, Good and I don't mind and I

don't know what the ER gave me so don't ask me if something shows.

So I think we got this straight. She wanted to do a stick and I said NO, I had

reactions the last four times, and with Trigger points , and Dr. Wills said I

don't have to and I took the prednisone orally so I can't anyway. Sorry this is

long.
