Guest guest
The clinic where I go to used to change my appointment all the time. Then I would have to call them back to reschedule again. It made me feel like nobody wanted to deal with me. I know now that it wasn't because of me at all. At present, I just need supervision of medications, and a recording of my vitals. Any surgery or testing is done elsewhere. Part of the problem was that they wanted to have Fridays free to do filing, prescription write-ups, and other record-keeping tasks. They finally seemed to get organized when they changed staff members. One of their chief staff members decided to retire from seeing patients, another doc had to work in another facility to decreased her work hours to have more family time, etc. It seems that the patients in our category of chronic and intractable pain have already reached the point where their conditions are stabilized, and there isn't enough to keep the specialists busy, so they go to other places, like hospital rehab wards, assisted living centers, etc. They don't do anything else at that clinic but consultations, interviews, and updates on progress or medications. Any surgery or testing is done elsewhere, by specialists in other medical fields. Sometimes my prescriptions are written by one or two docs that I have never met. They prescribe according to the reports and recommendations written by the docs that I do see when I go in for my check-ups. Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I am very sorry I am not around very often. I am trying to get on my feet, so to speak. I am dealing with a lot, but as soon as I am able to, as well as get my personal computer back, I will be able to be more active. Guest guest
Hi Lois, I am new here also and waiting for my welcome message to get approved, but I wanted to let you know; that you are not alone, there are a lot of people in pain on these boards and I think that sharing information and talking to others really helps with all of the stuff that we have to go through. Take care and I hope to get to know you. Millie ---Lois wrote: > > Hello, > I have been a bystander on this list and for some reason I have had > problems being a participant on this list. Guest guest
Hi, I've been lurking for a few weeks. Not new to chronic pain but fairly new (almost a year) to almost constant pain. 6 years ago I had a laminectomy and have had trouble off and on since 6 months after the surgery. The doctor now says post laminectomy syndrome and joint changes. I don't really like the pill route, but day in day out pain gets old really fast. Physiatrist started me on Nortriptylene and then weaned me off. Now am building up on Neurontin, but she is taking me off the narcotic pain reliever. It scares me, but even taking it every 4 hours doesn't keep the pain at bay. I can easily break throuhg with standing, sitting, or walking for too long. Has anyone had good relief from a TENS unit? I'm trying one out through my chiropractor, but he seems pretty ignorant about " how " to use it. I really appreciate the support I've found just reading everyone's posts. Th doctor wants me to go through pain management this summer. Has anyone found this helpful? Kendra
