Guest guest
I have everything you mentioned plus many other things but with Lyrica I personally did not have much luck. After one week, it affected my vision so that I could not see very well. I ended up not being able to take it. Others however have had great luck. I believe if you go back to the archives there has been a lot of discussion on Lyrica. As far as fibro goes I have tried many things. They now have me on Humira for that and other things. It seems to helping. Whether it is helping that or the other things I am not sure but something is working because I do feel better. Guest guest
Harley, Right now I am prepared to try almost anything within reason to help me get out of pain on a daily basis. The bright light(s), the headaches, the stress, the tiredness, the stiff muscles, the spasms, the swollen tendons (and so on). The frustration on top of everything, from not being able to work and take care of my children who are college and high school age is FRUSTRATING! TO THE MAX! I have done this for 18 long, hard, grueling years. I used to just read these e-mails; now I am finally writing to/ at some of them. Maybe out of frustration, maybe out of reaching out. However, thanks for taking your time to write me! Bless YOU. Guest guest
Moderator's note: Please be sure to check with your pharmacist to see if any of these herbal, or vitamin products conflict with prescription medications you are taking. Also, be sure you know any of the possible side affects from these products. Please be careful. > > So, I'm wondering if it's time to talk to my doctor about something more than over the counters. What experience do people have with Lyrica or what other meds have you had success with to manage fibro and arthritis? I don't have arthritis (well, maybe one finger) but I've had fibro forever. I've tried Gabapentin (Neurontin) but not Lyrica. I had such incredibly swollen extremities from the I couldn't continue with it - even my fingers were little well-stuffed sausages. Aside from that the Gabapentin made me alternately giggly and testy, and no one including me knew which one you were going to get in any specific situation. Amazingly enough my friends are still speaking to me. ;-) The antidepressants did quite a bit better, and most of them will shift the quality of the pain for me at least a little. Cymbalta has been by far the best, but Effexor worked pretty well too, and even Celexa and Zoloft did something. I was surprised to find that a combo cox1/2 anti-inflammatory called meloxicam (Mobic) made an impact on my fibro pain. I don't use it a lot because of the concerns over heart disease but it is effective. Of the alternative stuff I've tried Seven Forest's Sappan 12 seemed to work the best, though Magnesium maleate helped as well. Astonishingly enough Lance Armstrong's FRS drink, though awful tasting and prohibitively expensive, made a big difference in pain the couple of times I tried it. Go figure.
