Guest guest
Hi Jang, hi all, My experience with pain has changed as my disease has progressed. First, however, the cause of the Pancreatitis affects the frequency and type of pain you have, I have chronic calcification with stone formation. I was diagnoses in August. Before that I now know that I had " attacks " about once a year, then every few months. Beginning in August I began to have constant pain. I now require constant pain medication in order to function. I take Oxycontin 80 mg 1 every 8 hours. I take Percocet for breakthrough pain. I have noticed that my pancreas periodically becomes more inflamed and I notice an increase in nausea and my stools become pasty colored, float, and are malodorous. These " attacks " usually last 3-5 days. The only thing I can do is try not to eat to rest my gut. This is impossible today because I have developed insulin dependent diabetes from the Panc and I have to eat. I am grateful that my doc understand how severe the pain can be and doesn't hesitate to prescribe me whatever narcotics I need. I use to be on a Duragesic patch and that worked well, too. I switched to the Oxycontin because the patch kept coming off. I am going to try acupuncture soon to see if it can help my every day pain control. Guest guest
I haven't had any urinary tract infections, but the last time I was having pain my doctor asked me (over the phone) if I thought it might be from that. So maybe there is a connection. I can't think why he would have asked me that otherwise. I've never complained about uti's before...
