Guest guest
, I am sorry that you are without insurance and have to deal with all of the medical issues. Have you ever tried Amitriptyline or another one of the anti-depressants that are used for pain as well? Another thing used for nerve type pain is lidoderm patches, you could ask your doc for samples to see if they are effective (they are pricey). I understand why the insurance doesn't want to cover stimulators. Bottom line is the cost, which is wrong, very wrong. I would suggest going to www.clinicaltrials.gov and type in diabetic neuropathy. There are multiple studies (greater then 100) for treating neuropathic pain. The plus for you could be finding an effective treatment for you, and at no cost to you, as you never pay for clinical trials, and in fact many clinical trials compensate the participants financially for their time, and travel expenses. In fact, there are often trials involving stimulators where they are implanted at no cost to the participant. My neurologist said no narcotic would work but I have found them very helpful. The dilaudid works good most of the time, neurontin not so anymore.
