Guest guest
Thanks Jerry for your words, I'm glad that Lyrica works for you. I did try it but It didn't helped me. While I was on the States I was treating my pain with oxycodone, morphine pills, muscle relaxers and tramadol for break through pain. Now here in Chile is prohibit oxycodone so I can only have 50mg of tramadol a day. It has being a huge change and very frustrating. my mom is an RN so she gives me shots when the pain is really bad. well I hope you are doing well. Guest guest
Amongst other things, I have fibro. I tried 3 drugs that are specifically used for fibro: Cymbalta, Savella & Lyrica. Cymbalta didn't work for me. Savella had too many side effects and I never got close to the theraputic dosage. Lyrica works for me. My pain doctor had me go from 150 mg 2x/day to 200 mg 3x/day. I've just titrated up to that dosage. I think it is going to be good for me, but I only have a couple of days at that dosage to judge by. Here are some non-medicine things that help me. Maybe they will be beneficial to you: I have found acupuncture to be greatly beneficial. My acupuncturist believes I have some autoimmune disease and is treating me for that, rather than for the fibro. I see her every 2 weeks and I get a boost of energy and limited pain for the week immediately after and sometimes for the whole 2 weeks. I have been doing acupressure for years and that helps some. I can do it whenever and wherever I need to. I love to get a great massage. I had to try multiple places before I found one that was perfect for me! She even knows how to massage the back of my mouth and relieve some of the TMJ symptoms. Lastly, I love the whirlpool. I could do that several times a day, that would be fantastic! But it is too far away to even do it daily. So I substitute a hot shower. Sometimes doing 3-4 showers a day, depending on my pain. Hope some of this helps. Savella hasn't caused any noticeable side effects. It hasn't caused any noticeable improvement either. <grin> Before my arthritis got so bad, I used to love to get a good massage. My chiropractor did all my massage therapy for me. He didn't do any traditional chiropractic work on me, as he said it would make my spine worse. But, his massages were amazing. Now all massage therapy does is make me hurt worse. Oh to be twenty years younger again! Lyndi
Guest guest
, I agree completely with you and I found that nutrition comes into play also. Low carb they say.I have signed up to the Fibromylgia site and get newsletters also. I haven't done acupuncture yet, but my massage therapy and heat help. I also have to get my huggie body pillow. Vitamin D also helps my pain and I forget to take it but I am going to be more diligent. I also need to go back on my hormones, which I have read several articles that state that estrogen helps pain. I dislike the doctor who took me off them as recent reports state that if you get your heart checked out and okay, you can take low dose. Thank you for the info. I agree Lyrica works but I cannot take the accumulative doses so I take it as I can. I agree it takes as much as you can titrate to. The one thing is sleep, you have to get your sleep or the flares come with me. Bennie wrote: > I love to get a great massage. I had to try multiple places before I found one that was perfect for me!
