Guest guest
Hi Kathy, All of the information/answers to your question have been excellent. I would like to emphasize that you must have emergency type meds in a safe at home so you don't have to go to the emergency room. Maybe you could work out some kind of " contract " with your primary where you both agree that your " emergency-only " special meds can only be used as needed, a maximum number of doses per month or year, bring them with you to all appointments, and so on. Your primary may be unwilling to prescribe the heavy-duty meds you need unless you have a plan to ensure they don't become part of your daily pain control routine. I would suggest you do everything possible to stay out of emergency rooms.
