Guest guest
, What a horrible situation! You shouldn't be afraid to go to the ER, because sometimes you really need them. That is really, really wrong. Here are a two things that I do. You may already do these things, but I thought it was better to mention them rather than not sharing: 1. I keep a printed list of all my medications, medical allergies/severe side effects/interactions. I have an " ER bag " filled with things I'd like to have with me in the ER. I store the list in my ER bag. I show it to everyone in the ER. Everyone is very impressed that I brought the list. They always copy it and the doctor on duty always brings it in with him/her. Amazingly, they've actually read it and want to know more about my side effects. 2. I take someone with me to the ER who can act as my proxy. I'm in too much pain to be very coherent when I am in the ER. So I take my husband, brother, father or close friend. They have specific duties including asking everyone about any medication I am being given, to make sure it is not on my list of allergies/side effects/interactions. They may not know what the medications are, but they can can make sure it is not on my allergies/side effects/interactions. They also note the time, medication and dosage so if I have a bad time we can avoid it next time. Best hopes that you don't have to go to the ER ever again!
