Guest guest
I have voice recognition software but am having a hard time with getting it to recognize a lot of the words I use. It seems to want to go off on it's own tangents a lot. Any ideas how to make it work better? Right now it's unusable. I've gone about halfway thru the training but it isn't' really getting better. Guest guest
Carolyn, Let me encourage you to complete the training. If you can get it to work, it will be wonderful. Here are some tips that worked for my mother: 1. Get a higher quality mike. The ones built into your monitor are simply not good enough. The investment will pay off. 2. Place the mike away from the computer CPU. The internal fan generates background noise. Pick a place where the mike can stay there both during and after the training. 3. Make sure the mike is near your mouth about 6-8 inches away is ideal. Don't get any closer than that or you'll get interference from your breathing. 4. Turn off any background noises like, music, the washer, a fan. Don't shuffle papers or pace or let the dogs in to play. 5. Speak without pausing between words; a phrase is easier for the computer to interpret than just one word. For example, the computer has a hard time understanding phrases such as " This (pause) is (pause) another (pause) example (pause) sentence. " 6. Speak in a consistent level of volume. Too loud or too soft and the computer won't recognize the words. 7. Remember the computer has sample audio clips that it is trying to match your words to. If you have a heavy regional accent, the computer is going to need more training. 8. The more training you do, the better the accuracy. 9. Stop before you get too frustrated. Break and come back to the session. Remember this is a new skill and technology is still catching up. 10. Check to see how old is your voice recognition software. Is there an upgrade? Bug fixes? etc. You may want to invest in a newer or different package. 11. Look for Tips on the software's home page. Google your " software name Tips " to see if there are any users groups out there. They will have tips and tricks and may be able to help you directly. Good luck! > > I have voice recognition software but am having a hard time with getting it to recognize a lot of the words I use. It seems to want to go off on it's own tangents a lot.
