Guest guest
I just wanted to let all of you know that I went to the NEMC meeting last night and was not impressed - I found the NWH meeting much more engaging as it focused on the patients rather than the doctors. I think the format of sitting in the circle and having patients speak to one another is the best. I know there are some of you that don't attend the NWH meeting but I want to take a moment to highly recommend it - I still want to have the surgery through NEMC because I want Lap and Shikora is the best, but the support was not impressive, at least at the large group level. I think it's really important to have ample opportunity to speak with the doctors, nutritionists, psychologists etc. but not in the large group forum - to me that setting is for the people in the 'trenches' to share their experiences and struggles - that's what makes it meaningful and real. Just my two cents. I feel so thankful to have gone to the NWH meeting and to have been turned on to this list. Thanks to all of you for being there for me as I go through this journey - even though I'm in the very beginning stages. (second appt. at NEMC coming up on Dec. 5). Take care.
