Hey Sissy,

I wish someone would do a decent show on WLS too! I would be there in a

flash even though I haven't gotten to goal and probalby wouldn't be the

greatest role model.

I know exactly how you feel when you say that you want to walk up to

people in the grocery store and tell them that there really is a way to

overcome the foodmonster. I think probably every single time I go into

a grocery store I see someone that could benefit from the surgery, but I

know how they feel, and if someone had come up to me in a store and told

me about this surgery I would have just been so pesimistic. I would

have thought, " Oh yeah, another diet to try, like it could really work

for me, no thanks. " At one time I thought about making up flyers and

putting them in public places. Flyers with before and after photos that

just say " Your insurance may cover Obesity Surgery " , so that people

wouldn't think I was trying to sell something and be put off...... but

then the idea sort of just fell to the wayside.

I've seen so many of the shows like the one you saw. They pretend to be

understanding of the person stuck in the house, but all they do is

belittle them and tell them that it's all their fault. I had hoped that

Roseanne would do more to help spread the word about the surgery, but

I've only seen her do two shows on the surgery. One show talking about

her surgery and then the show that had Carnie on it--I felt

like she was saying to the audience that you can only have the surgery

if you are wealthy. It would be so nice if she would showcase several

surgeons, talk more about insurance coverage, and most important that

she tell the people that Morbid Obesity is a disease that now has a

treatment that can really work to keep the weight off for good. My

gosh, think how much good she could do if she had about 25 regular folks

on her show who had WLS, let a few of them tell their stories, talk

about the different options and tell her audience that regular people

are doing this! Or maybe Jerry Springer could do a show with WLS

patient vs NAFFA! We could get into some GREAT fights and we would win

cuz we would have more stamina!
