Guest guest
Have you ever taken Neurontin or Lyrica for your neuropathic pain? What about a spinal cord stimulator? Has your Doctor ever mentioned one to you? I had one installed in June of 08 for my neuropathic pain and it was the best thing that happened to me, so you might want to talk to your Doc about one of them. Take care, > > I have been taking Elavil for sleep and it doesn't help with pain. Lydoderm patches help but are pricey and can only be on for 12 hours per day. > Thank you, > D. Guest guest
, , Elavil has been around for many, many, years and was used for depression but was the first medication used off brand for fibromylagia and some pain patients. From the internet: Elavil is in a group of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. Elavil affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced Elavil is used to treat symptoms of depression.Elavil may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide. Most doctors use it first to see if it works and then goes from there. , I would look at the pain management doctors on the websites in your area and look at their bios and see the one you like ask your doctor to refer you to a specific one. There are good articles on choosing a good pain management doctor in this groups archives and I like a website, paintopics.org as it has articles on how to chose a good pain management doctor and other good information if you want to check it out. You can also go ahead and call the offices and ask questions. I have learned over the years to look some up before letting someone chose them for you. Good Luck and we are thinking of you. I'm not familiar with Elavil but if it just prescribed for sleep it probably doesn't provide pain relief too. At bedtime, I take medications for both a sleep and pain. All the sleep medications won't be very helpful if the pain is keeping you up. >
